The Inner West is mostly older housing — Victorian and Federation terraces, workers’ cottages, and a growing number of warehouse and factory conversions. Most of the waterproofing problems we see here trace back to renovations that didn’t account for what was underneath.

What we see in the Inner West

• Narrow terraces. Shared walls and tight courtyards mean bathroom and laundry leaks often show up in a neighbour’s wall before they show up in yours. We check party walls, not just your own.
• Warehouse and factory conversions. Marrickville and parts of Leichhardt have a lot of these. Old roof structures and repurposed wet areas need waterproofing that respects the original build, not a standard new-build approach.
• Renovated wet areas. A huge number of Inner West bathrooms have been redone at least once. We often find the real problem is what a previous trade left behind, not the tiles on top.
